• XHTML: Web
Extensible Hypertext Markup Language: XHTML is HTML transformed into XML syntax. XHTML has the same elements and attributes as HTML. The difference is that the HTML elements and attributes have been defined using XML instead of SGML. The XHTML flavor of HTML is "extensible" (an XML term). This is an advantage for adding new HTML elements and attributes for the future. The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) envisions XML as the new language of the Web and XHTML serves as a transition from HTML to XML.

• XML: Web
Extensible Markup Language: XML is a meta language derived from SGML that allows one to design a markup language. XML is playing an increasingly important role in the exchange of a wide variety of data on the Web and elsewhere. XHTML was derived from XML which in turn was derived from SGML.

• Y2K: Term
The Year 2000 problem pertained to software and firmware that would fail with the advent of the year 2000. The potential problems were many, but the jest of the matter pertained to the year rollover from 1999 to 2000. Many date routines handled only a two digit date (the century code was not part of the routine). So you might have year 99 rollover to 00 where the century 19 was fixed. Therefore, when year 1999 rolls over, it becomes 1900. Not good!!
