Operator Operands and Their Data Types
Operand Type Data Type Operators Comments

boolean operand Boolean List The unary logical NOT operator has one boolean operand.
The binary logical AND and OR operators have two boolean operands.
The ternary conditional operator has a boolean for only its first operand.
number operand Number List The number operand is of the Number data type and can be an integer or a float.
integer operand Number List The integer operand is of the Number data type but it can not be a float; it must be a whole number.
string operand String List The string operand specified with the addition operator is used for concatenation.
The relational group operators can have both numbers or strings as operands.
The left hand side operand must be a string for the in operator.
object operand Object List The Dot operator has the object to the left of the dot with the identifier to the right.
The instanceof operator checks to see if an object is an instance of a constructor.
The in operator checks to see if a method or property is in an object.
any operand All List These operands can take any and all data types.
lvalue operand see comment List The lvalue operand is not a data type. Typically, lvalue refers to the identifier that is used on the left-hand-side of an assignment operation. But it is also applicable in the increment/decrement operators and the delete operator.
constructor operand see comment List The constructor operand is not a data type.
array operand see comment Bracket Operator Used to access the elements of an array.
An array is a composite data type.
function operand see comment parentheses Operator The name of the function appears on the left side of the function call.
A function is a composite data type.
argument operand see comment parentheses Operator The argument operand appears inside the parentheses of the function call.
A function is a composite data type.
